ALI Online Lessons
ALI Online Lessons is a service for Japanese students (mainly business people) who want to learn English at home using Skype. The service is provided by Tokyo-based IP translation company Midori International Corp.
If you become a teacher with us:
- You can work at home in your spare time.
- You can share aspects of your culture, etc. with Japanese students.
- Since the lesson is one-on-one, you can easily control the lesson.
- Since no fixed texts are used, you can freely determine the contents of the lesson.
General flow of the lesson:
- Each teacher uploads a short introduction with a photo, topics he or she can cover, and a rate (charge) per 25 min. Then, the teacher enters time slots when he or she can teach.
- Each student choses a teacher and a time slot while referring to the introduction, topics, available time slots, and rate. The student informs the teacher of a topic of interest and his/her level of English skill.
- The chosen teacher receives an e-mail which informs the teacher of the chosen time slot and the Skype ID of the student.
- The teacher contacts the student via Skype and starts the lesson at the scheduled time, and teaches the student.
- Each teacher can receive payment when the total charge reaches 3,000 yen.
Work site: anywhere you can use Skype.
Working days and hours: you can freely determine (preferably, in consideration of the time difference between your country and Japan).
Requirements:
- Familiarity with communications with Skype.
- Patient enough to teach beginners (if you accept beginners)
- Can cover some of the topics listed below.
daily conversation, business conversation, grammar/pronunciation,
politics, economics, science, sports, travel/sightseeing, presentation,
speech, debate
Payments:
Teachers for rank A: 1000 yen (1000 points) to 1500 yen (1500 points)/lesson (25 min)
Teachers for rank B: 500 yen (500 points) to 999 yen (999 points) /lesson (25 min)
Teachers for rank C: 499 yen (499 points) /lesson (25 min) or less
For a first month or 20 lessons, which ever longer, after you start, your rate is fixed. We determine your rate (in a range of 500 yen to 999 yen) after interview. After that period, we or you may change the rate in consideration of your teaching experience, the number of students who appointed you, and other factors. The rate is an important consideration when students choose their teachers. So, if your rate is too high, your chance of being chosen by students may decrease.
Our company will deduct 25% as administrative cost. When the total charge after deduction reaches 3,000 yen, our company pays you the charge through PayPal (you must have a PayPal account) or money transfer (in this case, a transfer fee of 1000 yen (for bank accounts outside Japan) or 200 yen (for bank accounts in Japan) will be deducted).
